I found a tag yesterday on the 66 i bought for parts! is goes like this
SHROOF MIR HTR
U14 092 8
WSW 761298

could someone explain the codes??

SHROOF=Short Roof (Half Cab)
U14= Sport Car (Utility)
092= 92" Wheel Base
8= Springtime Yellow (Paint Code)
WSW= White Side Wall Tires (MY Opinoin)
761298= Sequence Number and should match your serial number built in October 1965

I have this tag. First picture is with the windshild flored down. It is spot welded in place. It's on my 68 and cut my fingeres open pretty good the first time I washed the dash pad.

Broncokak, youre tag looks like the vin tag off the older mustangs the ones i had were like that facing out so you could read the number from outside the vehicle some were on passenger side and somme were on the driverside. i have seen body buck tags on all the mustangs i worked on in several locations radiator support,badery tray side wheeelwell firewall under fenders etc. never know where they may pop up BUT most broke down into where they were built,Metuchen cars were on the firewall, san jose were on the radiater etc.
