Tossed some extra bars in the top of the cage today and added a CB. Didn't do much else besides clean it today and bring it back to driver status. I took it down on the beach after I put some gas in it and I am very pleased with the new gears and the Aussie front and Detroit rear.

Today I was able to get the new headers in, they are ceramic coated JBA shorties made for Wild Horses. I was relatively pleased with the fit and finish on these headers but there were some small discrepancies. For some strange reason I had to trim a small part of the driver side motor mount as it was interfering with the collector. Also the rear most primary tube on the driver side was not indented for the bolt making it a pain in the ass to get it in and tight. After all that I am still VERY pleased with them and would buy another set without hesitation. I also threw together some U bends and some other bends I pre ordered when I was still in Afghanistan and made a nice little 2 into one with a super 40 series Flowmaster. All tube is 2.5 inches and the muffler is offset inlet center outlet.

So we are all moved in here in Oklahoma and I have been DD'ing the 69 for a couple months now. Up to date I have been so busy with work/house/family that I had neglected the bronco. Finally I have some time to start some OCBR prep.

I had to swap out my nice bilstien 7100's for cheapo shocks when they needed a rebuild. After swapping shocks I realized how bad my bump steer really was. I had used a generic Trackbar bracket to replace the stock one that had been destroyed after a bad bushing but it never was quite right.

I made a new one out of 1/4 plate and the angles are now near perfect.

Also my small bearing 9 is leaking like a sieve, it had always leaked since new years 2008 and I think it may have been a side affect of the dunes on that trip. I worked out a deal and got this new to me 76 rear end. It's stuffed with currie 31 splines, CJ 7 rotors, S 10 calipers and some pretty brake lines. I plan to have it in this weekend if all goes well, the only thing am keeping from the old housing is the center for a possible 609 build at a later date.

From the pics of the inside of the wheel it's plain to see that the housing has had enough. Never mind that, the new 76 rear is ready to go in. It's all buttoned up with the 4.88's, detroit, and 31 spline Strange shafts. One more brake line to plumb and it will be ready to bolt in. I also took some measurements and found I was not using all of my shock travel at full droop. I decided to use some shorter shock mounts from Ruff Stuff on my new housing to avoid bottoming out the shocks. Also I was blown away by how much more Beef there was on the Strange shafts than the 31 Spline shafts I got from toms.

I fished getting the new rear end in on sunday at about 6pm. I would have neen done earlier but I needed to cut and swap the ends of 2 brake lines in order to keep using my Wild Horses extended rear brake line. I had to buy a flare tool since both of the Oriely's in Lawton had rented theirs out already. I never expect gold from Harbor Freight but the brake line Flare tool is garbage. Over all after the work on the trac bar and the new rear end I'm very happy with the way the bronco drives. I'm not sure I will be able to test everything before OCBR in sept unless I can find a playground close to Lawton.

Today was more scheduled maintenance in preparation for OCBR. My fuel lines have been Janky from day one on this thing and it's no small wonder how it hasn't burnt to the ground yet. Today I replaced all of the lines and built a ghetto fabulous fuel accumulator/filter for when I go EFI. I also found a decent 66 on base for sale but the owner ruined a lot of stuff by painting it black in an effort to hide stuff from prospective buyers. He also wanted an absurd 9500 for it.
