your wife must love you....

She really does Randy... She did buy me a set of Coilovers a few years ago and gift cards to select motorsports suppliers toward this project this year...

Of course- she pretty much avoids the garage anymore!!!;D

GEE, wonder why?

Well...

Smells like stale beer, old North Carolina mud holes (Bronco's former life) and steel dust...

Maybe its the clutter of used parts...

Not alot of places to step without risking injury...

I could go on...

WHEW! Just went through all 14 pages of your build, and glad I did. I, too, will be building a crawler... just collecting parts at the moment, but it's nice to see what you've done. I am now a subscriber! Started my own build thread too, but it's gonna be slow goin!

Saw your thread and will be keeping an eye on it as well. Sorry for 14 pages of mostly BS and hack fabrication... But I've been having fun!!

Finally got the frame brackets done tonight. They will be going under the truck this weekend and I can finalize front axle location!!

Got some progress this evening. Finished the subframes with lower control arm mounts and got them welded in. Looks like I could have done things a little different and raised my break over angle (raise the subframe). There is no bind whatsoever in the front end flex. In the pic below, there is 30" difference from side to side and I was only limited by the floor!! I have got to get the coil overs in and order up some bumpstops.

Turned out good so far...

Decided to cut the fender today. I really hated to cut the grille as much as I did, but even worse is that I have to cut about another inch on the leading edge. Overall- I'm liking it!

Full bump, front edge of tire just barely contacts the fender. Clears the back side...

I need to finish trimming my fenders and grille which will take me up to about the same point as you and I'm only on 40's! What are you doing for inner fenders? I'm still trying to figure out what do about mine after I chopped them mostly out for the tons and 40's.

Is your axle pushed forward? Your grill is full width too right? My axle is 6" forward and the grill narrowed 14"... Without being narrowed- I would have had to lose the headlights altogether!

Nothing for now on the inners... With the tires sticking out so far- I don't know if any mud will get under the hood!! LOL!

I will need to do something, but that will be much later on.

Oh yeah I forgot you narrowed your grill. Mine is full width. My axle is pushed forward 4".

looking great Todd, that 44 looks huge! I've forgotten what tires look like on my rig :( but that should change very soon!

as far as mud goes...when dovetailed, barely an issue even when bogging. i did build inner fenders though off my front tube clip. built them out of tinted racing lexan. should look killer

the Shop I build cages for gets remnants from a local supplier for super cheap called american products. probably doesn't help you much unless you want me to ship you a care package one day ;)
