I remember those days of tack welded tubing holding my rear end up until I got the coilovers in! Keep it up man... I'll head to KY for it's inaugural run - what in August maybe??

Whew... August is a lofty goal... I am looking to have the motor in around August- if i am lucky. No cage, seats, paint... etc...

Got a lot done this weekend... I have moved to disassembling the Dodge crawler. Pulled some wiring, winch, coil overs, tires, etc. I need to pull the tcases, headers and seats and the truck is going to the scrapper... Brings a tear to my eye!

Ya know what they say Todd, "You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet" but I know what you are saying. It must be tough to see the old girl go down the road.

Since I am slowly tearing it down... It's agonizingly painful!! A lot of memories in the 19 years I have had this truck!

I know how you feel. Just think of it like this, that truck represents the bachelor Todd, you have grown, learned and played well with that truck over the years. Now you are building a bronco crawler that will be better.... Better how? Well you have now graduated to a father son project. I know Trent is young but believe me, my dad did things with me at that age and they have stuck with me all along with hopes that I leave a similar impression on my son with projects that I involved him on. It will be a good thing... Of coarse till he is old enough to ask pop for the keys to have some fun, then you have to make him get his own. Lol

Got some more work done this weekend. Rear 4 link got some changes, but more importantly I got working on the passenger side floorboards. One this is done, I can get the rock skiis done.

Air chisel is your friend for this kind of work!!

With the floor removed, you can get a better look at my subframe and the fish plates I made to tie them into the frame.

BTW- I welded this practically standing on my head with the floor in the truck. Not too bad for self taught!

Those welds look great. Next time I need a contortionist to do some welding I know who to call.

The body mount brace was pretty bent. I had tacked the underhood tubing to the firewall, so I had to cut them loose to move the body... I reinforced the body mount channel straightened them, clean and sanded them. I drilled 500 holes for spot welds and sunk it in with sheet metal screws. I will weld it home tomorrow!

Dropped in new body mounts- what a PITA!! With the new floors (eBay special), the front floor bolts are a little short... The others went in OK. Got to screwing around with the doors...

What say you CB?. Doors or inserts?

Doors will help tame the mud on cold days, inserts are convenient for easy visual as well as hopping in and out. Why not do both?

If I can modify the hinges for quick removal, I may do it, but I don't want to pay for those high dollar hinges...

It was nice to see after all the work I have done that the body is straight enough to have all the doors & panels be fairly close on the first shot!;D

;D Can't wait to see it this weekend!;D

I wish... And my trip to Boston for this month got put on hold too...

BUT- I am making progress. This thing is crazy big... starting to think I may have shot a little too far with wheelbase & 44" tires. It will be an attention getter on the trail- even if people are just saying- 'Look at that moron!!';D
