Not knowing how that aluminum piece is shaped etc. with what we can't see. It looks a little like a king pin set up to me but you may have the option of shortening the stud and counter sinking that nut that will interfere with the coil on compression. Another option that may work is to pull that stud and replace it with a bolt.

Thanks Tom... Good input.

It kills me that I double and triple checked clearances and I have no idea how I missed this before I welded it all up... These parts are all Artec and designed to be used together with 2.5" coilovers- the coil tabs only go on one way too in that spot too... I can't inboard the uppers any more than they are and if I move the lowers, the coils will hit the frame at compression... It's pretty tight and this was all worked out to fit... Or so I thought!

The only thing not installed yet is the steering, so I have to verify the travel and make sure this is going that far. With the Hydro steering, I will crush that aluminum coil retainer...

Spent the last two days working on the house and in the yard- with the kids. Tonight- I broke down and cleaned the garage...

I did get some of the winch mount welded, realized I will need a new steering column, got the truck to final ride height... Then just stood back and ogled it thinking...

More pics...

When on the road I will get this plate on an antique tag!!

That will be fun to get in and out of the garage! Looking good Todd.

Right now it's about 2" too tall... Since I am running front & rear winches, I will suck the suspension down. The tires have too much air in them right now as well. That may take another 1" out with weight on them.

For reference, my Dodge was 2" too tall with stock size rollers on it!

Unfortunately I would have to back up and punt there... Contrary to my own advice, I full welded these mounts a while back.

I ran it back and forth a bunch this morning and it looks like I will only need to cut the studs down- both front and back studs on driver & passenger side.

I will shoot you my address- I am about 2 hours north of K-town though.

Holy ball sacks Todd, cut the the tabs off and move them. Be a man, anything else would be retarded I did it at least 3 times, JUST DO IT:p Do not do the easy, or for sure first class hack it!;D i did all four corners more than i want to remember now. It looks like your on top of it, remember you are at the point of lets get it done---by the way it's big and close to being fun to build now;D Lets call it one big bad mutha trucker or change the T to you know what----

I like big mutha trucker!

I could cut the tabs, but there would be more involved than that too. It is really tight and I don't think I would gain anything by standing the coils more vertical. I think I would start to move toward coil to tire issues like I thought I would have on the rear.

I lose nothing by cutting the studs above the nuts and I gain the needed clearance.

I do appreciate the input brother!

I need to get this done to move on the the drivetrain. I would like to get it running before the end of summer...

Are we talking a half of and inch , don't comprimize the rest of the components--- the rest of the build is on track just do it. Just the fun of building it yourself, right---there will always be more obsticles, rework what's not right and you will sleep easier at night;)

Todd just for some comfort i've got some tire into the springs in the rear, when fully flexed out, and it does flex bigtime, got lucky not to bend the shock rod;) as long as i'm crawling! I will definently be movoing the tabs once again---but not now, the speed in testing the rigs ability will surely tell me when i have to do it---or when i break a shock:(;D
