On to frustration with a Ford...

After spending waaaay too long trying to figure out why Ford's Boss blocks use a proprietory rear cam plug and more importantly WHERE do you buy one? Come on Ford!!!??? :( Two machine shops did not have anything close to the correct size and had never used one this size before. lol

Anyway, I found a bargain deal on one, but you have to buy 10 at a time lol. Fits all Boss blocks. Ford Motorsports and Summit carry them.

You can now advertise and sell them yourself! You have enough to be a distributor now.😉😁

Block takes a Ford proprietary plug but the min # you can buy anywhere is 10... another benefit for Ford hot rodders! lol

The body lift helps for sure- good point. The 6r isn't longer than a 4r but it is bit taller & a bit wider. Definitely a "snugger" fit in the tunnel.
Wish I didn't "need" it but I got to thinking of all the benefits of the body lift for me because I didnt build my rig from the start this way, like you did Steve :), mine evolved, so my body lift allows my 16" struts to not poke through the hood (3/8" clearance now), keeps my rear 4 links out of the rear floor (1/2" clearance), gives me 5gal more gas, and allows my larger radiator to fit and it barely keeps my 40"s out of my upper fender line also. I have thought many times what would I need to do to drop the body 2"... BUILD A NEW BRONCO!
Have to come visit to steal some measurements. lol

yep, I think everything I have has 1/4-1/2" of clearance 😂

I was going to run 40's, when I was cutting all the way to the hood I decided 37's were good nuff LOL

Hahaha! Yeah, I would love to have that same issue! :)

I need to cut another 3/4" inch out since on Pickle last year I did some "siping" since the frt and back were totally maxed out.
Fun poser pic spot, as cool as "The Crack" for showing twisted up suspensions.

I've been wondering if the frame was twisted a bit different here than anywhere else & maybe allowed or pulled the trackbar over a bit more to allow the DS tire to touch the fender cut out. Never done it in 7 yrs. Just wondering if a 3 link.would stop that or if it's totally independent.

I swear really!!!???

I am done with this outfit. Twice the tech told the owner that he'd threaded the bolts from the flexplate into the converter to make sure they fit. Magically when it got to my place the bolts wouldn't fit (this was 6 weeks ago). I've shipped them back once and dropped them off IN PERSON two more times - - which is a 4 hour drive EACH way!

Looking for a reputable converter shop in the PNW. Minimum required standard would be to be able to pack a torque converter in a box with at least 2 layers of cardboard in the bottom of the box‐ like they did the first two times they shipped them to me... :)

Another TC comes tomorrow. Wonder if it will be usable? This is holding up my engine build as I'm using my 460 block for my 6r to small block ford adapter prototype mock-up which should only take 20 minutes if the end of the snout wasn't so beat up it could fit in the crank! :( If the 2nd one is screwed up then I don't have a converter... shop owner wouldn't call me back after I talked with his secretary, sent pics to email and video to cell.

Am I asking for too much? LIke does the converter fit the flexplate? They said they mounted it (they had my flexplate, then when I receive it the bolts don't fit and I do a video call and he acknowleges his tech lied and here we are again... it's a big shop that has done some good work in the past but holy cow.

Dang, man! Something’s gotta change in your luck, and soon. Thinking back about what all has been done wrong or not done at all, you SHOULD be in line for 15 years of good luck…if not more.

Brian, how come a quick browser search on your PC keeps showing a search of four wheel electric motors and a battery?

It's Big Brother, Resistance is Futile. You Will be assimilated by Elon and his cohorts.

Way back in the day Continental Converter used to be the SOKA go-to, but I was told a while back that they weren't what they used to be either. Now it looks like they may be gone.

Yep I've been looking for different outfits the past 2 weeks- but that just moved up the priority list- So I called them today.
Converter looks even worse than the one I got yesterday I am not kidding.:(

It's actually ground down on both ends so where the cap is always placed over the input shaft on the torque converter to keep c*** out of it it's all ground off also.

So they're both getting shipped back.

My 6r80 to sbf dapters fit about 98% perfect- one hole (very bottom one) needs to move a few thou. Alignment is 100%,, starter engages perfectly and of course the dowel pins are the locators..

Slapped the rings on all the slugs tonight. Maybe I'll start filling the holes after I clean the block again. :)

Got a few irons in the fire but I'm keeping them at bay! Kinda...

Installed the new shifter linkage on the trans and it clears my heat shields on the tunnerl. Routed the cable to the console (shifter) and it's going to not be in the way even less than I thought-actually perfect placement. Feeling good about that. Re-routing the shifter cable major side benefit is it not eliminates all clearance issues with the shifter bracket and shift cable with the driveshaft and double carden.

Thx 36Fan! They are a "now or never" deal. I have 2 extra stroker blocks and one extra 6r.

Spent a lot of time cleaning the passages in the block & crank. Bolt holes, etc.

Done for tonight, will put the short block together tomorrow. Cleaned our pond, picked up some doors that might be usable for power windows for Shorty... moved wheelines a couple times and the Big Gun the same (daily chores).

I wish Ford would put out the quality of work that Scat and all the other parts have that Ford Performance bought to put in their block. :(

Today I finished my rear upper axle 4 link bracket. It's tack welded on the housing.
I removed the 9" TrueHi9 and the rear housing with all brackets, 14 bolt hubs, no RCV axles and no 3rd member weighs in at 208#. Sorry Paul, I'll get all those weights together soon... : )

I remember writing that a few years ago! Curious, why did you copy/paste just that?? :)
