What was ignition timing? A lot of the OE timing I’ve watched on an OBD-II port scanners were showing very advanced timing at idle.
Timing that’s too retarded could also explain hot exhaust temperatures I would think.

I run EDIS so I pay a tuner to do that!! lol

Last response I got that was tuning related on the 26th of June was he thought it could be timing. Why or better yet, how could it change when I did nothing to it is out of my pay grade.

This is so frustrating not being able to check/change anything myself.

I think I'm beginning to feel what most people feel when they can't fix something themselves and have to depend on someone else and they wait and wait & hope it gets done. I've never had this except with major shoulder repair... let the expert do it!

If he would just reply and say "I'm on vacation, or you're next or ... something..."

For just several thou$and I can start all over again with new ecu's, etc from ProM. Can't go back to Qjet but this is making me re-think my EFI and blower on Shorty. Save thousands w/o efi, controller, blower, hp fuel pump & regulator, etc. Simple Qjet or Holley, set of good heads, distributor- yes, on an LS and mid 10's in the 1/4 mile for a neighbor with a Camaro. He is setup professionally for bracket racing- air shifter, slicks but give me a full second with the same engine and Shorty would be a screamer. Rethinking the blower even tho I'll probably lose 5mpg build a 6.0 as a DD w/o the blower compared to a 5.3 w/blower. Oh well, different build for sure.

PM is sent.

Road Warrior is On The Road ! :) High temps for exhaust but stayed right at t-stat temp the entire data log. Took 4 data logs. The afr seemed lean as I was cruising up a 2% grade for a mile or two at 15:1. So a new tune is needed so at least it made a few trips!

Well, Brian, I’ve been following this forever (at least it feels that way🙄) and I’m happy as hell for you that it’s back in circulation! It really sucked watching you go through the bs with Ford. Nothing worse than a big corporation with it’s head up it’s ass……..

Thanks for the supporting msg! Much appreciated. :)

Wish my tuner would get something fresh sent to me!! I still can't drive it, just know it's ok.

Never mind, couldn’t find it on ORI but JBR sells them online!

Had Jensen Bros Racing rebuild my ORI struts. I learned they typically last 5 yrs or so before a rebuild is due. I had 7 yrs and when the seals leak they usually hydro-lock.I didn't want this to happen on a trip so they were due. I was going to do this but shaft polishing was necessary.
I was gonna ask before but got busy, but wondering how much the rebuild kit runs if you got a price breakdown. Seems like kind of a pain but regular shocks need to be replaced so maybe it comes up even anyway.

Been out of cell service for a week. :)

Can't remember the price for the total of parts.

Try Jenson Bros Racing in SLC on line. They have all the parts and are very supportive answering questions, etc.

https://jensenbrosoffroad.com/

Mine were old "relatively" and needed several updates. I haven't been able to accelerate or corner really since I have 20 miles on it and STILL waiting for a new tune but they feel better for cornering than before. Different weight oil, new seals can't hurt performance of them.

Thanks Brian…I had found them on JBR. About 130$ for the kit so I suppose like replacing a high dollar shock. Seems a lot for mostly small seals and parts but its quite a number of them. And no spring fatigue do deal with. Maybe could polish if needed with a drill turning it and a handheld belt grinder with the correct fine grit belt. Similar to finishing a crank On a smaller scale.

Are you to far out from a telephone provider to have internet? Or hard plowing cable there?

I had Jenson polish the shafts as they "told me" the cross hatching or whatever is critical-which I believe.

I was water-skiing in the mtns of Idaho last week. :)

Where we live we have DSL (terrible) or wireless.

Now that Starlink is available (months long wait) that will speed things up eventually but I hate giving Musk any $$. lol

We started Internet in our Valley decades ago. Then brought wireless on board and sold to the phone company with impeccable timing before "dial-up" went out!!

Mountains are for snow skiing…flatlands are for water skiing (WARM) ;)

PS: Some relatives have a cabin on the lake around McCall and the cousin in West Richland liked to go to Priest Lake!

Yeah, but it's so freakin' beautiful. :) The BPA and all the branches of gov't around use the reservoir to CHILL the Clearwater, Snake and Columbia rivers as the water at 800' below the surface is below 40deg F. BRRRrrrrr The outlet to the water is at the bottom of the dam so that really is a new advantage for our rivers that need to chill down a bit.

Water temp directly affects DO (dissolved oxygen) and fish need air and less algae so it's great to have 55 miles of reservoir of cold water available. Water dropped 5' the week we were there.

BUT, the water temp at the surface is stupid warm! Like small lake warm so we swim and ski for a week. If it was 3 hrs closer we'd do it couple times/month

McCall is definitely cold and snowy. We go sledding over in that direction but try to stay away from the spendy places, like McCall. lol

Sailing regatta on an ID lake (blatantly stolen from here):

Hey. cool….the Hobie in the middle with 2 blue stripes is a twin to mine. The multicolor further out behind it was called a Tequila Sunrise Oops…after looking back it’s called Cat Fever. One of the reasons I haven’t slalomed in decades. Haven’t sailed for quite a few years either. A couple of us used to go out, each sailing solo but I wouldn’t trust myself doing it now.

blatantly stolen from me. https://classicbroncos.com/forums/account/th-attachment-manager/878152/view

Always wanted a Hobie.... we have lots of wind around here in the early summer so I'm sure you could clock 20mph on one!!! I would need to have another truck waiting on the other side of the reservoir!! :)

Naw, a little time spent tacking into the wind and you get it. A cat doesn’t pivot as well as a single hull, just takes a bit to get the feel for it. There would be places (ex. Docking in a cove) that need more experience, but getting around the lake can be taught in a short time. You’re still required to carry a paddle just like a powerboat as well. ;)

My tuner FINALLY got in touch with me last night about midnight his time. He said he would look at my 4 datalogs I sent him almost 3 weeks ago and he contacted me this am and said "drive it".

So I put a bunch of 92 octane in and did just that. Took it for a couple hard data logs and have a pretty good bog at 4500 rpm then takes off like a bullet again after that hesitation. Had it before but not nearly as noticeable so we gotta figure this out. I'm sure I'll get to try all kinds of things ... :(

Glad you finally got to do more than just crank it up and run it in place for a bit. Nothing like ‘seat of the pants’ running to make you happy. Here’s to getting it sorted out.
