Serguei is still researching materials for the covers. Found a place to get fabric in 5000 yd minimums but don't think you guys are going to by 400 covers anytime soon...

Heres progress pics on Trail Tub No1. Should be done by the weekend. Still tweaking and fitting the sides. I have to make and fit the inner roadster door panels and the inner quarter panels then its bonding time and done.

Love the trail tub sorry I wasn't there to offer up two more thumbs... gotta get up there soon buddy. Keep up the work.

Whadanuts? ;D

You'd have to stay about three weeks to get these flares off the ground. No kidding. I make it look fast but thats because I work 16-18 hour days to compress the time and get back to paying bills. It also helps that I know what I'm doing sometimes. No wise cracks Tasker. :-* Thats why I'm waiting on Suzie. I'll call her Tuesday. If the molds still exist, thats the way to go.

Patience weedhopper. Theres plenty to do on that thar Bronco from the look of it before you NEED flares. Didn't you set them on the quarters/fenders and draw a cut line while you had them???

No cause they don't fit like I think they should and the rear ones are different from one to the other. Hold them on your Quarter skins laying on the floor next to one another and you'll see what I mean. Besides your the one that told me that I would have to bug the sh.t out of you for them to get done, so thats what I'm doing. I'm working in the Pocono area for the rest of the season and can stop by if necessary? Maybe to give you a 3 week pay check to get going on the project without Suzy, cause her molds weren't quite right anyway.;D And I have been called nuts and I have been nuts.

quick update on covers

Serguei got the material he ordered. He says it looks very similar to the original with a little more texture. Alot less $$ than Sunbrella.

Pat, Maybe the left side is different to clear gas caps? I'll check it out.

Pat-
Spoke to Suzie. I told you to bug me not her!;D Anyway, everything is cool. Shes still trying to find out the status of the molds. They are a few continents away. I told her that if she could get the originals that made the fiberglass parts, that it would really help me since time is so precious. She said her dad and a patternmaker took six weeks to make the original patterns. See what I mean about time? Also, Volume on these was low so other than you and me, who else is going to step up and buy them to defray the investment of time and materials which is in the thousands? NOt saying forget it. Just want you to realize that theres more to it than slapping some resin and cloth around on a Sunday afternoon.
Suggestion- why don't you start a thread (and moderate it) because the time I spend following the trail cover thread is pissing my slave driver wife off.Ask people if they would put them on their trucks AND what is their upper limit for price. Not the "I'd go $150 for a set" BS. It costs more than that by alot to make them especially if you amertize the tooling cost. Keep in mind, these things look stupid on a truck w/12.50s unless you're running full width axles and a negative offset. Also a big question Suzie had- Do you want Glass or Urethane??
Bottom line, IF she can't get them back from AU for whatever reason, I'll redo them but we have to get a few more tubs out first to make up for the lost time due to Mr. Angle grinder. Come to Fall Carlisle spaces NB 23.4.5 I think. We'll shoot the stuff. I'm going to try to be there all five days.

Back to trail covers!!!

Mike

Proto Trail Cover on the way

The sample covers and originals are on the way! Hope they get here soon but theres complications; We've had once in 100 year flooding which we spent the last four days helping clean up. Never seen anything like it. Houses, businesses, places never flooded before completely submerged. Roads and bridges completely washed away. Close to 100,000 displaced from their homes. I rehabbed the breaker panel at Mels parents house over the weekend and they have power again but lost most of their major appliances, furnace, and treasures. We sit on a hill at 900' elevation so no damage here but the bridges we use to get off the mountain were blocked and then damaged. I'll post pics of the covers on "ODie" (who performed magnificently in 3' deep water and mud with new 35" shoes), when they get here but I'm pretty sure our post office had water over the roof. The local grocery store, CVS, and bank had water to the ceilings of the first floors. Leave it to the US Government to put a post office in a flood plane.
If you're curious, you can see pics on the web at the Press Enterprise newspaper or WNEP channel 16 the ABC affiliate.

Saw our post office today. It had been submerged to about 6' on the first floor even though it's built on a mounded hill. Our mail is coming from another town about 10 miles away so it could be a while. Hope the box wasn't in the building when it went under.....

First sample covers have arrived!!

Check it out kids, You too Ben ;D ,
The covers came yesterday but it was rainy. We had a little sun a while ago so I tried one on "ODie" and heres the results. From what I can tell, the material is exactly the same as the original when comparing it to Taskers. Nice and heavy. Price is set at $165. Thats direct from Serguei. No middle man (me). I'm going to try to set it up so you can order from him but through my site to make it easy for everyone. The pucker is because my roll bar is kinda low/forward so you can assume there's extra room for taller/wider/further aft bars that will take up the extra material. Also didn't want to strap and tension it so it can be sold as new next week at Carlsile. Comments??
