What say you Ben? You started this whole deal..

Hey now, don't go picking on me!!!!;D;D

Mike, I've been following this thread and there have been some super ideas and suggestions, but I have to agree with Ransil;

"its a trail cover not a soft top make it simple to keep costs down."

-Two versions - Slant and full
-One color - Black or grey, really doesn't matter, find a deal on an "overstock color"and go with that color??
-Good quality material, sewn well, with good straps

I know that every grommet, zipper, vent, color, style, etc just adds to the costs. I would bet that will be the biggest consideration for most buyers, if it wasn't they'ed go have one custom made. I've seen taskers unit and it's similar to the one I showed you in Townsend, if they were available, folks would buy them. It's always better to build a better mousetrap, but in this case, there is not any mousetrap available!!!!

Now go make my cover!!!!!:cool::cool:

I wouldn't skip on the material. I'd still make the door covers bigger. I hate the idea of having to buy one every few years and would rather pay a little more for a good quality cover that fits and works good and would last for many years. I can always go by a blue trap if I want to save money. %)

I agree to keeping the cost down but make it better than whats already out there. I'm a year into the one I have and it's faded already and leaks and it really hasn't been used all that much so I will not be getting another one like it.

Oh yeah Mike, mine needs to be 10" longer for "Stretch" and it needs a flap on the back end, to cover my rear winch & jack!!!!!!%)%)%)

Now that the godfather has weighed in we can relax...%)

I'm going to have him make the stock length and 24" longer since my "new new" project tub will be a bit longer than even yours. Don't tell bronco widow Melanie or I'm a dead man and none of you will get your tubs!

Since we're all supposed to be equal now, and have "shared sacrifice" there should be a progressive cost increase. If Bens is bigger then he can pay ohhhh, lets say $2000 for his and everyone who gets a standard length gets theres for $20. Everyone in agreement say Aye. How do we like Democracy (AKA tyranny of the majority) now? ;D;D;D

Just funnin wich yah Ben! I'm sure Serguei can add 10" (wouldn't we all like that) at a fair price. He's following the thread so I'm sure he'll either say OK or scream at me.

I got one last year from someone on here. I'll have to look and see who. It works OK but IMO (for what that is worth) it seems to be fading fast for the short time I've had it and shorter time I've actually used it. I'm not trying to bash the guy at all, it's a nice cover and I got what I paid for but I'm not interested in another cover that is only good for a few years.

Sure enough, Serguei is following the thread. He had this comment;

"I just read that some guys complain about faded colors and leaks. Faded colors is something that we can't control, depends on the quality of fabric.
Leaks - there is a teflon spray, that I use regularly on my boat tops. If top is not exposed to the moisture for the length of time, threads shrink, and seams will leak. The thread expands when it exposed to the moisture and seals itself. I have that problem in the biginning of each season - first rain and water just goes thru. To prevent that I apply teflon spray, and do it maybe twice or three times per season. And it really works."

His day job is in engineering which is how we met and you can be sure he/we'll over analyse the thing to death before the first one's sewn..

;);)

My leaks are soaking through the fabric when the water puddles up on it not at the seams. I've wondered if there might be anything I could sprey on to help. I think the best thing to do is shed the water better and avoid the puddles as much as possible.

you BOTH drive trains? that's so neat! do you have a funny hat?

I think the word "tasker" should become a purjorative (that means bad word).................:p:p like; tasker it, son of a tasker, and after next Gore, I went no1. now I have to go tasker. HA!

SB- I haven't heard back from Suzie whether she found the molds or not yet. I told her if she still had them, I'd run em for her. Suzie, you out there? The trivent is a long way down the list.....

The whole interna/pockets for bow thing has been a point of interest for me since I take fish and misquitos hatcheries out of the pool that forms in my bikini top after every big storm..

Tasker-
I reread my last post checking for questions. I think I went over the edge on my last post and apologize. I was grinning as I typed it thinking I was being really smart but think maybe it was more insulting than funny as I intended. Your pheaux jabs are always welcome and give a chuckle.

Yes, Dad.....

They are now in the capable hands of Serguei the MECHANICAL ENGINEER. I'll poke him periodically to make sure he's on it but I'm sure he'll move swiftly and either get them back to me to return or send them directly back to Randy and Marco.
