I was finally able to weld in the cowl panel. Driver side fit ok, but the passenger side was way off. I boxed in the passenger side of the cowl channel so water won't get in there again and I also coated the channel with Rust Bullet just in case. Ground down the plug welds, and will put a coat of epoxy primer on it and move on to hopefully my last rust repair. The driver taillight housing bottom has a pinhole in it after I removed the surface rust. Bought a new one, and will cut off just the bottom and replace.

Another horrible day🤣

Explored back country in Arches NP today. Got to see what less than 1% of the visitors get to see only saw 4 other vehicles on the 40 miles of dirt we covered today.

Started taking apart a 1987 F150 tilt steering column in preparation of duct-taping it to the 4x4x2 steering gear box. Or maybe I should use Super Glue... Got me pondering again.

Finished up my recessed fuel cap using the Jaz cap. Before, my fuel filler neck was behind the fender held in place with springs and I had to hold the fuel nozzle in place while fueling. So nice to have it solidly mounted.

Absolutely! Can't wait until I get my bronco in good enough condition to start taking these kind of trips. Keep posting pics, it is great motivation to keep going out to the garage and get dirty!
I’ll keep posting. As for being ready make it dependable first, that’s the biggest gremlin of really going anywhere but especially any where in the desert SW. everyone gets caught up in the has to be built with all the highzoot fancy lockers, 40” tires, trailer, tow rig ect. Open, 31’s with some transmission or tcase gearing, solid running and driving with no issues is way more fun than built huge and pushing all the limits and broken.

Was board so I ran hells revenge alone before breakfast.

Then went to Gemini Bridges and Bull Canyon. Side shot of the bronco is a wide spot in a very narrow shelf road near the Bull Canyon mine.

Since I don't have a build thread, I will throw up some of the stuff I have been working on as I finish it. Decided to try the Eastwood Internal Frame Coating. Both of my rockers are new, as well as my passenger door post. Even though the rockers are already coated, I wanted to protect them further from rust, and my Driver door post is solid, but I know there is surface rust inside. Cut open a small window in the back of the door post, and also used all of the bolt holes. Turned out great with excellent coverage inside the post. Cover all holes, very messy if you don't.

Rocker was much easier, driver side is wide open in the front ( I will be fixing that so water can't get in so easily) and the bottom holes allow easy access. One can did my door post and rocker on driver side. I could have done more, but I went excessive in the door post just in case.

Ordered 2 more cans to do the passenger side rocker, and the support channels under the body. I will probably do it to the inside of the frame as well, but it will be a while before I have to tackle that,

Picture makes it look gray, but it is black in color.

Nice! Did you post that up the other day in another thread? i remember seeing it, or a similar one and was going to ask about it.
Did you paint the shock, or was it that color already? Looks good.

It was white and I painted it "aluminum" color.

I thought, why do we have to drive with neglected paint while we restore?

So, I spent the afternoon doing a 2 stage detail. I think I got almost everything that wasn’t permanent off this truck. I’d guess about 3 decades of neglect. I brought back shine to this old paint! Now all the blemishes look like they’re on there on purpose for the “patina” look.
