Need help with new Bronco Bed

I'm guessing here but, those nuts are probably for the seatbelt and for the back seat? What if you were to turn it around 180? I just looked on my '75 ranger and noticed that there are two support bars under the bed. First one goes toward the front. The second one is in-line with the axle...

    Newb Looking for Bronco

I got my '75 Ranger in the local paper classified. I also searched around in the truck trader. Sometimes you can find a really nice one in there.

What did you use to cut the flags on your tcase?

If you plan on doing lots of fab and fab fixit work, you could use a plasma cutter. My pops bought one for all the cutting he does and that thing is just unbelievable. Took my flags off in .002 seconds. Bad part is, minimal system is $1200 and it does require a compressor.

    Door hinge rebuild question

I'm getting ready to do this myself. Problem with using an electric hand drill is breaking the bit or getting off kilter and wallering out the hole so to speak ;D I personally will seek out a press, others may feel comfortable using a hand drill. As for the vise? I have used my vise for...

    Hoist-a-top

I was thinking about using an old boat trailer crank and a pulley and 2x4 on the celing. But then, luck me found an old garage door opener that still works. I.m gonna try modifying the rail to connect to the straps some how. After that I'm gona lift in style with the push of a button.

Glad you finally got it. It was starting to bother me that you could not get the adapter seated. When I did mine, I used this real nasty stuff to hold the bearings in. It was grease but it was nasty. Even fast orange would not take it off my hands.

Well, sandpaper may do the trick as that is what I used to clean out where the two pieces come together. I used sandpaper to clean up two burrs on the inside rim where someone used a flat blade screwdriver to pry something out. Don't sandpaper the adapter as you will tear up the O-Ring. I...

Hummm... I don't remember pressing the output shaft into the gear. Perhaps I did but just can't remember. Is there a possibility that the shaft is pressed too far into that smaller adapter? It really sounds to me like its fitting too tight as you tighten the adapter up. I attached a picture...

Are you able to put the output gear into the t-case without the adapter? Double check the bearings and make sure they are seated. 1 and 1/2 inches is pretty wide. I would say then its probably not a bottom out issue. There is a possibility that its hitting on top of the bearings but low...

    Transfer Case issues

Sounds like it could be overhaul time. There could be a problem in the shift rod within the t-case. In the top, the shift balls with the rod link could be cluttered up with junk and hanging. I agree with the previous post. At a minimum, see what the fluid looks like.

In what order did you assemble the output gear and the adapter? On mine, I had to install the output gear into the adapter and then bolt that to the transfer case. From there bolt it to the transmission. Is there a chance the transmission output shaft is bottoming out on the output gear or...

I know that when I initially fit the adapter on my transfer case, I was having a problem with it fitting properly. I had some grit inside case where the adapter slides in that was causing a problem. I sanded it out by hand and that helped. Silly question here; is the transmission in netural?

things to look for in buying a bronco???

Something else to consider when buying is how comfortable are you with the various tools? On my '77 the body was pretty rough, but the price was good and I'm comfortable with repairing body panels. How much you feel like spending; on the initial purchase? on various needed parts? on needed tools?

things to look for in buying a bronco???

First of all, welcome to the forum and yes, there is tons of great information here. I would say it depends on what you want to do. Do you want a clean daily driver? Do you want a trail only rig? To you want to restore to original? These questions will help you decide what exactly you are...

    Door post/Kick Panel Alignment

Here is a picture of my pass. side that I am currently working on. When I test fitted the new kick panel, the rear edge was not perfectly straight. It sort of curves a little toward the bottom. The picture below shows the inside door post. The yellow line represents basically where my kick...
