5.0 HO SWAP?

DON'T run your old balancer! Your old engine ran with a 28.2 oz. imbalance, while the 85' (an I have been told possibly 83') and newer engines run with a 50 oz. ombalance. With the age of the rubber in your balancer, it may shred at some point(when, who knows). Go to the junk yard, and get a...

    opinions

All I know is that a lot of newer cars/trucks are coming with drain plugs similar to this. That is just a little less junk to run through your engine the way I see it.

What year is this steering shaft??

HNRYS69 is right , I am sure 74' and I believe 75' have this lower shaft. 76' and 77' have collapsable shaft to meet DOT regs. of 76'. The benefit to this shaft is that you can service the lower u-joint without reaming the yokes out. The bad part is that you have to get an upper shaft of the...

    Help with stereo

What kind of amp is it? it sounds like the amp is doing what they call clipping. Clipping occurs when you thermally overload the transistors (or triacs) in your amp. A capacitor may help, becaust it will smooth out the power available to the amp. It wont regulate it though. It is going to...

    winch bumpers
these bumpers look like they kick ass, but I ordered the front about 3 months ago (sent the guy a check for $535), and have been promised the bumper for the last 6 weeks. I still havn't seen it. The guy builds them in his spare time, and I understand after hours jobs. But this is...

    Dimming Dash Lights

sounds like wherever your dash lighting circuit is grounded, you are not making good contact. Sounds like when you turn your wheel, there is some tension on something helping to make better contact. don't rule out the actual connector to wire connection either. good luck! :)

    PS columns - mix-N-match
I dont know where you are getting your info, but the upper shaft and joint were made as one piece, and the lower shaft with yoke are one piece. no slip joint, and the only splines are on the u-joint coupler at the steering box. there is a pinch clamp similar to that on a 76'-77' slip joint...

    Towing a Bronco?

Howie is ABSOLUTELY correct. The auto depends on the engine to turn it's pump and without the pump turning, you would burn that bad boy down.

    PS columns - mix-N-match

i have a 74', and the upper shaft on 74' and 75' have the rag joint mount welded to the upper. Makes a body lift a pain. I had to cut my lower shaft and add 3/4" to it.

    body lift experts

I did a 3 inch on a bronc i used to have, and ran into a lot of the problems stated above. My latest has just a 2 inch. The benefits are also as stated above. You also don't notice the 2 inch as much as the 3 when looking at it from the front and rear. I also have heard of people shearing...

    Fusable Link question.

not exactly help, but try going to the wrecking yard and finding some of the fusable links the later model cars use. They look like big spade fuses (they call them maxi fuses). A lot of the GM (sorry, I know that is blasphemy) cars have them mounted in neat little blocks that lock or stack...

Cleaning a bare block - hot tank or elbow grease?

tank it dude. The only places you can clean are the ones that you see, and if the engine is that nasty, you may miss something that the tank will get clean for sure.

    rocker arm adjustment

Its okay man, take a breath, count to ten, and open your eyes. I too have a couple of em lyin around to cart kids, groceries, and such. Nobody seems to hold it against us though, as long as we get out the REAL big boy's toys when we are gettin serious ;D

    Headers/horse power

You can only get out what you can suck in. The engine is just a big air pump. At some point, the larger exhaust starts hurting HP #'s. If you are running a 2bbl, I would put on 1 5/8 primaries with long tubes and collecotrs. If you are running a 4bbl, you can run 1 3/4 primaries with...

    rocker arm adjustment

Yes, this is correct. The lifters plungers will ride somewhere around the center of their stroke. You're thinking Cheby, where you have to adjust the fool things.

    Rear seat ??

I bought a rear seat from a 2000 Explorer that I plan to install in my truck. Paid $50 for it at a local salvage yard.

Removing drag link from tie rod

if you're trying to save the boot, they will also rent a link splitter(looks like a small 2 jaw gear puller).
